On Snoop Dogg's shoulders

Rap musician Snoop Dogg is in the (haunted) house in Bones, playing the ghost of Jimmy Bones, a ghetto racketeer who doesn't want his "crib" turned into a dance club. Director Ernest Dickerson blends blaxploitation riffs from Black Caesar and J.D.'s Revenge, embellishing the vibe with a role for Foxy Brown herself, Pam Grier, as a dreadlocked psychic warning everyone except moviegoers to stay away. Dogg has a bracing screen presence evidenced in the recent films Training Day and Baby Boy. Whether he can carry an entire movie on his scrawny shoulders remains to be seen.
