FAMILY FUN NIGHT WITH SPAGHETTI: Inverness Primary School students and their families are invited to Family Fun Night with a free spaghetti dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight at the school. The dinner will be served from 5 to 6 p.m. in the cafeteria. The Media Center will be open for reading and book check-out. Parents and students can visit the technology lab to surf the Internet or to learn about software. There will be a schoolwide art project that is just beginning in the art room, and face painting will be available.
COLLEGE FOOTBALL TICKET RAFFLE: The Citrus County Seminole Club will raffle a pair of tickets to the Florida State/Clemson game and a pair to the Florida/Florida State game. Each chance is $10 and can be purchased from any Citrus County Seminole Club member or by calling 726-6164 or 795-9866. The drawing will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Coach's Pub & Eatery. You need not be present to win. Proceeds will benefit the scholarship fund, which offers three $1,000 scholarships each May to graduating seniors.
SECURITY GUARD CLASS: Withlacoochee Technical Institute will offer a Class D, Private Unarmed Security Guard class on two consecutive weekends, Nov. 3-5 and Nov. 10-12. The classes will meet from 6 to 10 p.m. each Friday and from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. each Saturday and Sunday in Room 710. Tuition is $58.08 and will be collected at the first class. GOLF TOURNAMENT: The Citrus High School Choral Department is sponsoring a golf tournament with an 8 a.m. shotgun start Saturday at the Lakeside Golf and Country Club in Inverness. The $35 entry fee includes green fees, cart rental, buffet lunch and team placement prizes. Proceeds will benefit the choral department. For information, call Brendan Luce at 860-2089.
ASSOCIATION OF UNIVERSITY WOMEN GOLF TOURNAMENT: The American Association of University Women Citrus County Branch will sponsor a turkey trot and golf tournament to benefit the Citrus County Central Florida Community College Endowment Fund and public school educational projects. The event on Saturday will begin at 8 a.m. with coffee, followed by a shotgun start at 9 a.m. at the Inverness Golf and Country Club. The entry fee is $35 for the general public and $25 for members and includes greens fees, coffee, golf cart, lunch, prizes and favors. This year there will be a special juniors division. For information about ages and entry fees for the junior division, call John Kelly at 637-2526. The association is also seeking donations of merchandise, gift certificates or cash. GOLF TOURNAMENT: Inverness Christian Academy will host a golf tournament (four-man shotgun) at 8 a.m. Nov. 4 at the Inverness Golf and Country Club. The $50 cost per person includes greens fee, golf cart, a prime rib dinner, prizes and door prizes. To register, call 726-3759.
TIMES SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE: The St. Petersburg Times is offering scholarships to high school seniors in public or private schools in Citrus, Hernando, Pasco, Pinellas and Hillsborough counties. Four students will be selected to receive up to $15,000 annually for four years to attend any nationally accredited college or university. They will be selected on the basis of academic achievement, financial need, community service and evidence of having overcome significant hurdles in life to succeed. Applications are available in the Times' Inverness and Crystal River offices and from high school guidance counselors. Applications must be received by R&R Education Consultants, the firm administering the program, by Nov. 13.
