Season's bounty is festive

Many of the county's schools will be hosting or participating in fall festivals this weekend. Options for family fun are county-wide.
Homosassa Elementary School will hold its Fall Festival from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the school. There will be a haunted hallway, a cakewalk, a fortune teller and a costume contest. The safety patrol will sell hot dogs and sodas.
Lecanto Primary School's Parent-Teacher Organization will hold its annual Fall Festival from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday on the school grounds. There will be games with candy and prizes. Hot dogs, chili dogs and drinks will be available for purchase. For information, call 746-2220.
Rock Crusher Elementary School's festival is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday . There will be games, prizes, food, including cotton candy, and a dunking booth.
The Crystal River Primary School PTA is hosting a Fall Festival from 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the school. There will be a bean bag toss, a cakewalk, a moonwalk, putt 'n pumpkins, fishing, duck pond, goldfish game and dunk the teacher in the dunking booth. They will have face painting, tattoos and a hair and nail "salon." The Crystal River Police Department will have reptiles, horses and other animals on display. There will be a costume contest at 4 p.m. The festival is being sponsored by Tina Williams, owner of the local-nationwide access Internet provider "B" and the new Crystal River Home Depot. Citrus Springs Elementary School's Parent Teacher Organization Fall Festival will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at the school on Century Boulevard. There will be a hay ride, a dunking booth, haunted house and food, including pizza, nachos and caramel apples. For information, call 795-2695.
The Citrus County Council of PTAs is co-sponsoring a Fall Festival from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at City Hall Park in downtown Inverness, and school organizations have been invited to have booths at the event. Participants include Lecanto Primary, Floral City Elementary, Inverness Primary, Pleasant Grove, Hernando Elementary, Inverness Middle and Citrus High schools.
The festival will have games, food, a costume contest and a family pumpkin decorating contest. Register for the costume contest at the Whispering Pines Park administration office, Forest Drive, Inverness, from 8:30 to 5 p.m. through Friday , and at the festival site from 5 to 6 p.m. Saturday. Participants in the pumpkin decorating contest will need to bring an undecorated pumpkin. Art supplies will be available.
