Is Travolta feeling lucky?
Maybe John Travolta can change his Battlefield Earth bad luck by rigging a lottery with a few Lucky Numbers. Travolta plays Russ Richards, a small-market television weatherman with a false sense of celebrity and large debts from preserving that delusion. His girlfriend is Crystal Latroy (Lisa Kudrow, above with Travolta), who works as window dressing for the town's weekly lottery. If she can juggle those numbered balls just right, they can easily have a grand future together. But then, there wouldn't be all those mishaps and double-crosses for director Nora Ephron to explore. Ephron teamed with Travolta before, on the grunge-angel fantasy Michael, and made crowd-pleasing romances of Sleepless in Seattle and You've Got Mail. Lucky Numbers co-stars Tim Roth (Reservoir Dogs), Bill Pullman (Independence Day) and former "Al Bundy" Ed O'Neill. Look for a review in Friday's Floridian section.
