TAMPA -- Olympic gold medalist Kristi Yamaguchi will weave her magic on the ice, while "First Lady of Magic" Melinda Saxe will make Yamaguchi and the skaters of StarSkates Magic vanish in one of tonight's illusions at the Ice Palace. This show is the first in a series of nationally televised specials bringing figure skaters and other entertainers together.
Produced by Olympic gold medalist Robin Cousins, StarSkates Magic will be taped at 7:30 tonight in Tampa and will be televised from 4 to 6 p.m. Dec. 15 on NBC.
Joining Yamaguchi will be Rudy Galindo, 1996 U.S. national champion; Scott Davis, 1993 and 1994 U.S. national champion; Jenni Meno and Todd Sands, three-time U.S. national pairs champions; Rosalynn Sumners, Olympic silver medalist and world champion; and Renee Roca and Gorsha Sur, two-time U.S. national dance champions and world dance champions.
Saxe will create her signature Drill of Death illusion. She will also perform her Cage of Fire illusion and will end the two-hour special with the entire ice skating cast vanishing.
StarSkates Magic is at 7:30 tonight at the Ice Palace. Tickets are $35-$55, through the box office or Ticketmaster.
