© St. Petersburg Times, Doggie costume contestGet your pet a Halloween costume and go trick or treating. Pets In Paradise Inc., is having a doggie costume contest with treats for you and your pet. Prizes will be awarded for the scariest, funniest, owner/pet look alike and cutest costumes. Contest winners will receive a free night of boarding. The grand prize goes to the best "paradise" theme; the winner will receive three free nights of boarding or free grooming. Pets In Paradise Inc., is a luxury resort which offers boarding in a cage-free environment, doggie day care, in-house pet sitting, professional grooming, puppy obedience and agility training. Donations of food, comforters, bowls and crates are needed for the Great Dane Rescue of Tampa Bay and Tampa Bay Bulldog Club Rescue. The Halloween festivities begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at 5109 W Lutz-Lake Fern Road, two miles west of Dale Mabry Highway. For information, call 949-7334. Dom Irrera at Side Splitters:Dom Irrera was recently nominated for "Best Stand-Up Comic of the Year." He has made many appearances on HBO and shows such as Everybody Loves Raymond, The King of Queens and the final episode of Seinfeld. Irrera will perform at 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. today, Saturday and Sunday at Side Splitters, 12938 N Dale Mabry Highway, at Cascades Shopping Plaza in Carrollwood. Tickets are $12 and $14. For information, call 960-1197. 22nd annual freakers ball at Skipper's:Come celebrate Skipper's 22nd annual freakers ball along with the Rev. Billy C. Wirtz and the Polyester Prophets in their one-of-a-kind show. The band incorporates blues, boogie-woogie and rockabilly with southern satire. Its songs are tales of waffle houses, truckers, Jerry Garcia, Jimmy Buffet, Elvis and family relations. The performance is at 8 p.m. today at Skipper's Smokehouse, 910 Skipper Road. Tickets are $7 in advance and $10 at the door. The evening will also include a costume contest with prizes and food. The best original costume wins a trip for two to New Orleans.
