Key playersBy Times staff writer © St. Petersburg Times, published October 27, 2000 LecantoJEFF YEARWOOD: The quarterback passed for 175 yards and a touchdown in last week's loss to Crystal River. Yearwood had backed up Phil Reed prior to that game. Yearwood's passing total against the Pirates was 23 yards less than what Reed threw for in Lecanto's previous six games. The Panthers, who have thrown for two TDs this season, will need more balance to end a nine-game losing streak. CitrusJUSTIN TAYLOR: Taylor is a gifted two-way player who has big-play potential on both sides of the ball. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound junior linebacker/wide receiver leads Citrus with 92 tackles and is one of the team's most consistent defenders. Taylor hasn't caught that many passes, but look for that to change down the stretch. The Hurricanes have shown signs of opening up their offense in recent weeks. Crystal RiverAt 5-8, 237 pounds, he is the team's heaviest lineman. With Malott's help, the Pirates have rushed for a county-best 331 yards a game Crystal River running backs average 8.5 yards a carry. © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • Tampa Bay Times
