© St. Petersburg Times, Harvest Celebration at Heritage Baptist ChurchBEVERLY HILLS -- The Heritage Baptist Church will have a Harvest Celebration from 6:45 to 8:15 p.m. Wednesday, 2 Civic Circle. AWANA night is changed from Thursday to Wednesday for the week of Oct. 29 only. The theme for the night is Farmland so dress up in your favorite farm animal or farmhand costume. Only costumes displaying the Farmland theme will be allowed. There will be a hayride, hot dogs, games, prizes and surprises. Bring your friends, too. Inverness' Annual Fall Festival set for todayINVERNESS -- The city's Department of Parks and Recreation presents the Annual Fall Festival from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Downtown Inverness (City Hall Park). The Fall Festival is sponsored by Inverness, Citrus County Council of PTAs and the Citrus County Chronicle. Events include free costume contests for ages 2 and younger, 3- to 5-year olds, and each grade from kindergarten through fifth and middle school. All entries will receive participation ribbons, with prizes awarded to first place in each division. Registration will be on the day of the event from 3:30 to 4:15 p.m. The costume contest will begin at 4:30 p.m. Games and refreshments are sponsored by nonprofit organizations. There will be a nominal charge to benefit the organizations. Parents must accompany children attending the festival. West Citrus Elks plan Halloween party for childrenHOMOSASSA -- The West Citrus Elks Lodge will sponsor a Halloween party For kids from 10 a.m. to noon today at the lodge, 7890 Grover Cleveland Blvd. All children ages 10 and younger are invited; Elk relationship is not required. There will be a costume contest for the children and plenty of hot dogs, soda, and cookies for all -- and lots of prizes. It's all free. Crystal River Middle band plans Haunted HouseCRYSTAL RIVER -- Crystal River Middle School Band is having a Haunted House from 7 to 11 p.m. today at the Scarecrow Festival in Heritage Village. Donation for the Haunted House is $2. Halloween stories will be told from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at the Haunted House. All proceeds will help with the repair of band instruments and purchase new and used instruments. Children invited to join costume paradeCottages of Gentle Breeze Assisted Living Community will sponsor a children's Halloween parade where children (with or without their pets) show off their costumes at 3:30 p.m. today. The address is 9416 N Gentle Breeze Loop, Citrus Springs. The Cottages will give out goodies and each child will receive a special "caring for others" award acknowledging their effort in sharing their Halloween with those in need. Refreshments will be served. AWANA clubs plan Fall Fling at North Oak BaptistCITRUS SPRINGS -- The AWANA clubs of North Oak Baptist Church are sponsoring their annual Fall Fling for children from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at N Citrus Springs and N Elkcam boulevards. Clowns, face painting, game booths, food, cake walks, dunking booth and more await all who attend. The activities follow a presentation held outside. People from kindergarten age to 100 are invited to come and have a good time. There will be candy for all who attend. For information, call 489-1688 or 746-1500. Youngsters invited to Halloween event at mallCRYSTAL RIVER -- Simon Property Group announces Citrus residents are invited to celebrate Halloween at Crystal River Mall as it sponsors trick-or-treating from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. The mall at 1801 NW U.S. 19 invites children 12 and younger to receive goodies from participating mall retailers. Each year many little ghosts and goblins from all over show up for this "spooktacular" Halloween event. "We are happy to be able to host a Halloween activity at our mall that will help bring families, especially kids, together for a fun holiday experience," said Alicia Beamer, area marketing director at Crystal River Mall. "Now more than ever, we are glad to be able to provide the community with a place to come together to experience and enjoy an American tradition -- Halloween." First Baptist Church to sponsor annual Fall FestivalINVERNESS -- First Baptist Church of Inverness will sponsor its seventh annual Fall Festival from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church, 123 S Seminole Ave. All children up to fifth-graders are invited to attend. There will be free games, candy, prizes, a moonwalk, a 40-foot climbing mountain (for 3 year olds to adult). Hot dogs, cotton candy, popcorn and soda will be available for a nominal fee. Wear costumes (only non-scary costumes, please) and join the festivities. This event is open to everyone in the community. Call 726-1252 for information.
