Located on a lonely backside stretch of the run around Lake Minneola, the St. Pete Mad Dogs water station is a favorite of racers making it through the brutal marathon. It features loud reggae music, a nice palm arbor arching overhead, an encouraging crowd of triathlete volunteers dispensing all variety of liquids including chicken broth, and, best of all, two massage tables for runners in need. Mad Dogs member Robert Stevens of Dunnellon gets an early cramp worked on by massage therapist Mendy Brooks, right, of St. Petersburg, while his wife, Janie Stevens, left, offers attention.
