DAVIDSEN MIDDLE: School district guidance counselors invite eighth-graders and their parents to a career planning meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the school, 10501 Montague St. Topics include the importance of setting educational goals, planning for high school courses and completing an educational and career plan. The school's Medieval Fair will be from 1 to 3:45 p.m. Friday. The event will include rock climbing, face painting, ring toss, rides, games and refreshments. Presale tickets are five for $1 or four for $1 at the event. Volunteers are still needed to help set up and tend booths. To volunteer, call Joanne at 792-8308. A CPR course for students, parents and teachers will be offered from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday in the school's cafeteria. Cost is $10 for PTSA members, $20 for nonmembers.

PRIDE ELEMENTARY: The second annual Pride PTA Golf Scramble is set for 1 p.m. Friday at Heritage Isles Golf and Country Club, 10630 Plantation Bay Drive. Cost is $65 per player. This includes golf and cart fees, range balls, goodie bag, beverages and catered dinner at the Arbor Greene Community Center. Nongolfers may also attend the dinner. SCHWARZKOPF ELEMENTARY: The third-grade spelling bee will be at 9 a.m. Friday. Dad's Club members, known as the Papa Bears, will act as the judges.

WRITING CONTEST: The GFWC Lutz-Land O'Lakes Woman's Club is sponsoring the GFWC Youth Writing Contest. Students in grades 1-12 may submit one poem or short story. Poems may be any style, with a length of eight and 30 lines. Stories should be limited to 2,000 words. Include on the top corner of each page submitted: name, address, telephone number, school, grade, sponsoring club (Lutz-Land O'Lakes Woman's Club) and title of the manuscript.
