Artists, crafters sought for festival
Kappa Delta Phi Sorority is accepting applications for artists and crafters to participate in the Brandon Arts and Crafts Festival. The event will be held on Nov. 18-19 at Regency Square across from the Brandon TownCenter. Space fee is $65 for two days. All proceeds will be donated to non-profit organizations in the Greater Brandon area. The sorority is a national service organization whose members perform community service and civic work. Tickets on sale for 'Little Moon Theater'
Tickets are now on sale for the performance of The Little Moon Theater at Center Place Fine Arts & Civic Association, 619 Vonderburg Drive. The performance, presented by the Eckerd Theater Company, will begin at 11:45 a.m. Nov. 16 and 17. The play is recommended for ages 3 and over and teaches valuable lessons of tolerance and acceptance while it enchants and entertains. Tickets are $5 per person for non-members, $4 per person for members. Tickets must be purchased in advance and are non-refundable. The play is sponsored in part by the Gift Shop at Center Place. 'Chess to the Max' tournament at MOSI
'Chess to the Max" will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Museum of Science and Industry, 4801 E Fowler Ave. The tournament is open to children in grades K-12; the first 300 entries will be accepted. Tennis tournament starts Nov. 11
St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church is sponsoring its third annual tennis tournament starting at 11 a.m. Nov. 11 and 9 a.m. Nov. 12. The tournament will be at the Tennis and Athletic Center at Hunter's Green Country Club, 18101 Longwater Run Drive. The event is for men and women interested in fun and competition doubles. All teams will play on Saturday, and the top eight will advance to Sunday play. You do not need a partner to register. All players must be 18 years old or over. Mini-retreat deadline nears
Registration deadline for "The Wisdom of Letting Go," a conscious contact mini retreat, is Monday. The retreat is sponsored by the Franciscan Center, 3010 Perry Ave. and will will begin with the weekly Mass at 4 p.m. Wednesday. The retreat, led by Sister Catherine Cahill and Sister Naureen Marie Kelly, will focus on how to "Just let go and let God." The event includes a presentation, time for quiet, discussion, dinner and prayer and is for anyone interested in 12 Step Spirituality. Cost is $18 per person. Centre for Women offers divorce seminars
The Centre For Women, 305 S Hyde Park Ave., is offering seminars on Florida separation and divorce law. Seminars offered will be presented by attorneys who specialize in family law on the following dates: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday by Catherine Real; 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Nov. 15 by Mary Quinn and 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 28 by Kay McGucken. The seminars will cover topics relating to child custody, support and property disbursement. Suggested donation is $5; reservations are required. Business leaders talk on economy companies
A series of six workshops on building your new economy company in Tampa Bay will be held in Plant Hall at the University of Tampa, 401 W Kennedy Blvd. The seminar "Building the New Economy in Tampa Bay-the Life Cycle of a Growth Company" is designed for entrepreneurs, investment bankers, venture capitalists, attorneys and other business leaders. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday. Cost is $75 per person; discounts available for multiple attendees from the same organization. Proceeds will go to the UT's College of Business. The workshops will feature a top-tier list of speakers including Allen Moseley, Steve Buchanan, Scott Miller, Mike Baron, Keith Gibson and Gary Heyes. Topics covered will teach entrepreneurs how to develop new business opportunities, learn effective ways to find the money and investors they are seeking and, will provide venture capitalists with new strategies for making investments and meeting potential business partners.
