The Pasco County Chapter of SPEBSQSA barbershop singers is looking for prospective members to sing with its a cappella men's chorus, "Sound of Sunshine."
The ability to read music is not a requirement, though it is helpful. The desire to sing harmony in tenor, lead, baritone or bass is the objective.
Those interested are invited to a special guest night at 7 p.m. Tuesday at King of Kings Lutheran Church, 10337 U.S. 19, Port Richey, where rehearsals are scheduled every Tuesday evening.Those who wish to can sing with the chorus. Diane Hauler, music director, will teach the group several barbershop songs and demonstrate quartet singing. Participants are invited to bring their significant others. The New Port Richey Elks Lodge 2284 is sponsoring a seven-night Caribbean cruise aboard the Norwegian Sky, sailing Feb. 16, 2002, to Nassau. Other ports of call include St. Thomas, San Juan and Great Stirrup Cay, a private island. Prices include port fees, government taxes and round trip transportation from the New Port Richey Elks Lodge. The New Port Richey Public Library, 5939 Main St., New Port Richey is sponsoring a family Halloween Costume Party at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the library.
Prizes will be awarded for the best costume in the categories of funniest, scariest, most beautiful and most original for ages 6 and under, 7 to 15, and 16 and older. Prizes have been donated by local businesses. Judges are New Port Richey Mayor Wendy Brenner, Ed Isolani, executive director of the New Port Richey Marine Institute; Carole Pearson, chair of the Library Advisory Board; and Nanci Denamen of the Reading Assistant Program (RAP).
Nanci Denamen and Mary Kay Smith, Youth Services Librarian, will tell Halloween stories.There will be refreshments. Participants will receive a trick or treat bag of goodies.
The library is hosting the event as a safe and fun way for families to celebrate Halloween.
Kurt Browning, Pasco County supervisor of elections, will be the speaker at a dinner meeting Tuesday of the Second Amendment Club of America.
The dinner is scheduled at 7 p.m. at Chili's Grill & Bar, 9600 U.S. 19, Port Richey.
Browning will serve as the installing officer for the newly elected board of directors.
Bill Bunting will be installed as president. Other officers are Chuck Rhall, vice president; Catherine King, secretary; Myrna Rhall, assistant secretary and Ann Bunting, treasurer. The club is non-partisan.

Cares Elfers Senior Center, 4136 Barker Drive, Elfers, is offering computer courses in November.
The curriculum includes Computer I, Computer II, Word, Windows, Internet, Scanner and Printer.

King of Kings Lutheran Church, 10337 U.S. 19, Port Richey is hosting a meeting and social for shut-ins and caregivers at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
The Rev. George Metzenthin, pastor, will have a short service with lunch and entertainment to follow.

Trinity Church of the Nazarene, 11038 Little Road, New Port Richey, is a host site for the SHARE Food Program.
Sign up dates for November are from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday. Distribution day is Nov. 17, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Cost for the basic SHARE package is $14 and two hours of volunteer work during the month. Select items are also available.
A festive holiday package is planned for Thanksgiving, including a whole turkey and all the trimmings -- even a pumpkin pie -- for $15 for the November distribution.

The LaVilla Gardens Social and Civic Club is sponsoring a luncheon and card party Tuesday at its clubhouse, 5730 Elena Drive, Holiday.
