    Here is a sampling of Halloween-themed events happening today and Tuesday in mid and north Pinellas County:

    Today

    SCARY STUFF: Fright Fest 2000, Renaissance Festival Village, 400 Central Park Drive, Largo, across from Largo Central Park; crafts, face painting, hayrides and pony rides, palm readings, tarot card readings, psychic; costume, mummy wrap and scream contests; refreshments for sale; 6 to 11 p.m. today. $9.95 for adults and teens, $3.95 for children ages 6-12, $7.95 for seniors 55 and older with IDs (727) 586-5423.

    THEATRE MACABRE: Foundation Village, with Acme Sound & Light and Platapus One Productions, presents "Shockydoc's Halloween House of Wax and Theatre of the Macabre," 6-10 p.m., today, Foundation Village's Neighborhood Family Center, 918 Woodlawn St., Clearwater. Proceeds to benefit the village. May be too intense for young children, parental discretion advised. $1, adults; 50 cents for children. (727) 445-9504.

    Tuesday

    HALLOWEEN ALTERNATIVE: Abundant Life Ministries, 1550 S Belcher Road, Largo, holding Harvest Festival, a Halloween alternative, beginning at 5:30 p.m. . Includes petting zoo, dunk tank, games, refreshments, hayride, pony rides. Families welcome; no scary costumes. Tickets: 25 cents each or five for $1. (727) 586-6464.

    GHOSTS & GOBLINS: Halloween event, 6-9 p.m. , Largo Municipal Complex, 201 Highland Ave.; includes free trick-or-treating, interactive Family Zone, NFL obstacle course, clowns, rides, food for sale. $5 wristbands for unlimited play in the carnival area. Participants asked to bring canned goods for Project Heartstrings. Park at City Hall or Highland Recreation Complex, 400 Highland Ave. (727) 587-6720.

    LARGO MALL: Local schoolchildren can trick or treat around the Largo Mall, 10500 Ulmerton Road, 5 to 7 p.m. ; 12th annual event, in conjunction with Project Heartstrings, a charity which benefits needy children and families. With a donation of canned goods, youngsters will receive a free candy bar and special Halloween bag. (727) 587-0100.

    SAFETY HARBOR: Preschoolers can trick-or-treat, visiting downtown Safety Harbor businesses, 4 to 7 p.m., meet at Safety Harbor City Hall, 750 Main St.; sponsored by the leisure services department; $1 per child. (727) 724-1545.

    TODDLER TURKEY TROT: Lake Seminole Presbyterian Church, corner of 113th Street and 86th Avenue, Seminole, is sponsoring a safe alternative to trick-or-treating for youngsters between four months and three years old, 6 to 8 p.m. . Non-scary costumes are recommended. There will be games, an indoor playground, kiddie rides, finger painting, an infant play area, snacks. Advanced reservations are $2 per child, $3 at the door.     CARTOON CRAZE: A "Cartoon Craze Hallelujah Party" for children through the fifth grade and their families will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church of Tarpon Springs, 501 E. Tarpon Ave. It is a Halloween alternative carnival. Kids are encouraged to come as cartoon characters or dressed in other non-scary costumes. For information, (727) 937-3271.
