Women's club planning to hold fashion show

"Ladies' Holiday Fashions" is the theme for a luncheon program from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Nov. 8, sponsored by the New Port Richey Christian Women's Club at the Spartan Manor, 6121 Massachusetts Ave., New ¸ort Richey.

A special feature will be a "Wardrobing Event" by Diane Jump of Burdines. Elaine Black will present "Sparkling Melodies," and Joy Neely will talk on "Your Moment to Shine."

Tickets are $10.50 and should be purchased by Friday by calling 847-9318 or 863-2605. A prayer breakfast is scheduled at 9 a.m. Nov. 15 at the Riverview Alliance Church Fellowship Hall, at Georgia Avenue and Madison Street, New Port Richey.

Social club card party and luncheon is Tuesday

The LaVilla Gardens Civic and Social Club is sponsoring a card party and luncheon from noon to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the clubhouse, 5730 Elena Drive, Holiday.

Cost is $4. For reservations, call 845-4612.

K of C Halloween party is Saturday night

The Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus, Father Felix Council 5869, is hosting a Halloween dinner-dance Saturday at the council hall, 5850 KofC Drive, Port Richey.

Doors will open at 5 p.m., with dinner at 6 p.m. featuring salad, chicken cutlets, mashed potatoes and dessert.

Changing Times will provide dance music. Tickets are $9 per person, tax included.

Costumes add to the fun but are optional. Deadline to purchase tickets is Tuesday. Call Nettie Strine at 842-8019 or Adele Darone at 376-5114.

Lodge hosting family potluck supper tonight

The Pearl of the West Masonic Lodge is hosting a family night potluck supper today at the lodge, 6319 Louisiana Ave., New Port Richey.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., with dinner at 6. Members, families and friends are welcome. Participants should bring food or a dessert to share. Meat, bread and beverages will be provided by the lodge. For information, call 842-5735 or 372-8218.

Postal workers retiree group meets for luncheon

The Florida Suncoast Retiree Chapter, Suncoast Area Local of the American Postal Workers Union will meet for an open house and Dutch luncheon from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Reserved Room of Buddy Freddy's buffet restaurant, 1150 U.S. 19, Holiday.

Bob Bloomer, southern region national APWU officer, will be the speaker.

Veterans group names annual award recipients

At a recent meeting, the Suncoast Veterans Affiliated Council presented awards.

John Mitchell of the DAV Chapter 120 was named "Male Veteran of the Year," Ruth Fitch of the Women Marines Association was named "Female Veteran of the Year," and in a new category this year, "Auxiliary Member of the Year," the recipient was Barbara Broussard of the DAVA 78. They will be honored at the Veterans Day program at 11 a.m. Nov. 11 at Veterans Memorial Park, Hicks Road, Hudson.

Mike Diglio of DAV Chapter 78 is chairman of the council; Barbara Broussard, vice chairman; Katie Robinson of American Legion Post 343, secretary; Blanche Watson of WAVES National, treasurer; and Grady Broussard of DAV Chapter 78, chaplain.

The council will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the NCOA, 8624 Broad St., New Port Richey. Any chartered veterans organization that wants to be represented on the council should send a delegate to the meeting. For information, call Corky Callahan at 934-5596.

Seniors group plans trip to Living Christmas Tree

The 39ers, a seniors group of the Presbyterian Church of Seven Springs, will attend a performance of the Living Christmas Tree on Dec. 3 at Calvary Baptist Church in Clearwater.

Tickets are $24, which includes the show, transportation and tip. Bus seating is limited to 52. Those interested should register in the church narthex, 4651 Little Road, New Port Richey.

Deadline for tickets is Wednesday. Luncheon, en route, will be at Luby's and is not included in the ticket price. For reservations and information, call Ellen Sheffield at 372-9125.

Church to have meeting, followed by lunch

King of Kings Lutheran Church, 10337 U.S. 19, Port Richey, is sponsoring a Shut In and Caregivers meeting at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

The Rev. George H. Metzenthin, pastor, will conduct a short service and communion.

Lunch and entertainment will follow. Transportation can be provided. For information, call the church office at 868-5744.
