Focus on volunteers

WMNF-88.5 FM will hold a volunteer training session at 6:30 tonight at the station, 1210 E Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Tampa. Volunteer opportunities at WMNF, a community-based, non-profit radio station, include answering phones, and administrative and development support. The Grand Central District, an association of businesses and residents along Central Avenue and First avenues N and S from I-275 to 31st Street S, needs help for its Grand Central Nite on Central Avenue, a street party, from 4-9 p.m. Saturday. For information, call Suzanne LaBerge at 323-2209.

The St. Petersburg Times Festival of Reading needs 200 volunteers to help maintain lecture and book signing sites, sell beverages and assist with the storybook character parade. The festival will be held Nov. 10-11 at Eckerd College, 4200 54th Ave. S, St. Petersburg. Volunteers receive a T-shirt, parking and food and beverage tickets. The Florida Botanical Gardens, 12175 125th St. N., Largo, needs volunteers to help in the gift shop. Duties include customer service, restocking merchandise and operating the cash register. For information, call Jean Field at 582-2577.

Directions For Mental Health Inc., 1437 S Belcher Road, Clearwater, is in need of volunteers to assist elderly adults in mid- and upper Pinellas County.
