Kitchen fire damages home

A kitchen fire heavily damaged a woman's Brooksville townhouse Monday morning. Geraldine McLaurian of 849 Village Drive was boiling water on her stove when she went out to check on her laundry, said Brooksville Fire Department officials. The kitchen flamed up and fire spread throughout the room, causing about $30,000 damage before firefighters were able to extinguish the flames. McLaurian is staying with neighbors.

Police search for unknown robber

SPRING HILL -- Authorities are searching for a man who robbed a convenience store Friday. A man entered the Mariner Mobile Mart, 4275 Mariner Blvd., about 5 a.m. Friday and demanded money from the clerk, who gave him $70, a sheriff's report said. The man, who did not show a weapon, told the woman he would return and kill her if she called police, the report said. He then left the store. Authorities did not release a detailed description of the robber but have surveillance photographs.
