November is a good month for celebrating

With lots of declarations, from American Indian Heritage Month to Peanut Butter Lover's Month, it could be fun.

Well, it's a new month. Officially, November is National Adoption Month, National American Indian Heritage Month and National Family Caregivers Month.

Unofficially, it is Aviation Month, Child Safety and Protection Month, Good Nutrition Month (good luck when you see some of the national days coming up!), International Drum Month, Latin American Month, National Epilepsy Month, National Railroad Model Month and Peanut Butter Lover's Month.

There are no United States government sanctioned observances this week on my official list, unless Election Day is considered an observance (probably not), but there are plenty of nongovernment ones. Today is All Saints Days, National Author's Day and National Family Literacy Day. Friday is National Deviled Egg Day. Saturday is Sandwich Day. It is named in honor of John Montague who invented the sandwich and whose birthday is Nov. 2.

You're going to love Sunday -- National Candy Day. Monday is Guy Fawkes Day, also known as Bonfire Night. Monday is another good one -- National Doughnut Day. (Happy Good Nutrition Month!)

Tuesday is Basketball Day and Election Day. Wednesday is Magazine Day and it is also Hug-a-Bear Day (the fuzzy, stuffed ones, I think).

And finally, don't forget to celebrate every high school student's favorite: National Chemistry Week, Nov. 4-10.
