The spookiness continues
Just in time for Halloween -- well, a day late actually, but you get the idea -- Jobsite Theater performs that perennial thriller-diller, Dracula, in a stage adaptation of the Bram Stoker novel by Steven Dietz. David Jenkins directs a cast that includes Brian Shea as the Count and Ami Sallee Corley as one of his victims. Paul Potenza has the scenery-chewing part of insect connoisseur Renfield.
Dracula opens tonight and runs through Nov. 18 in Shimberg Playhouse at Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center. Show times: 8 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday; 4 p.m. Sunday. Tickets: $15.50-$21.50. (813) 229-7827 or (800) 955-1045 or www.tbpac.org.

The Asolo Theatre returns to its roots to open the 2001-02 season with A Flea in Her Ear, the classic farce by Georges Feydeau. Bradford Wallace and Tessie Hogan star as a Parisian couple whose extramarital lust leads to ever more desperate measures to avoid being found out. Peter Bennett directed the production that runs in repertory from Friday through Feb. 23. Tickets: $15-$40. Toll-free 1-800-361-8388 or www.asolo.org.

With Jahja Ling stepping down as music director at season's end, the conductor-pianist and musical members of his family will be featured in this weekend's Florida Orchestra program. Ling and his son Gabriel will play Mozart's Concerto for Two Pianos (K. 365), and Ling's wife, Jessie Chang, will be the soloist in Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3. The only member of the family not playing is Ling's other son, Daniel, also an outstanding pianist. Pictured here, from left, are Daniel Ling, Jessie Chang, Jahja Ling and Gabriel Ling.
Also on the program this weekend are Rossini's overture to The Italian Girl in Algiers and Bartok's suite from The Magnificent Mandarin. Performances are at 8 p.m. Friday at Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, 8 p.m. Saturday at Mahaffey Theater and 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Ruth Eckerd Hall. Tickets: $20-$39. Call (813) 286-2403 or hall box offices.
