A world of cinema is as close as Sarasota beginning Friday with the 11th annual Cine-World Film Festival. All events will be held at Burns Court Cinema, 506 Burns Lane in downtown Sarasota. The 40-film lineup includes Danny Glover, left, and former St. Petersburg resident Angela Bassett in Boesman and Lena, a drama set in South Africa during apartheid. Other offerings includeShadow of the Vampire, with Willem Dafoe's praised performance as a silent film star Max Schreck; David Mamet's Hollywood satire, State and Main; and Just Looking, a coming-of-age tale directed by former Seinfeld co-star Jason Alexander. Fourteen French films dot the list, including the U.S. premiere of Claude Lelouch's One for All. Special guests include director Richard Rush, who will present and discuss his 1980 cult classic The Stunt Man at noon Nov. 11. Information about screening dates and times is available at the festival Web site http://www.filmsociety.org or by calling (941) 955-9338. Tickets are $6.50 a screening, and ticket packages are still available. Check Friday's Floridian section for film critic Steve Persall's Top 10 Cine-World events worth the trip.
