SUCCESS IS SO SWEET: The musical How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying continues Thursdays and weekends through Nov. 18 at Stage West Community Playhouse, 8390 Forest Oaks Blvd., Spring Hill. Shows are at 8 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and at 2 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are $16. FALL FLING: Brooksville Elks Lodge 2583 will have its third annual November Fest through Sunday at the lodge, 14494 Cortez Blvd., west of Brooksville. Hours are 5 to 9 p.m. today, 1 to 9 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. German food and music, arts and crafts, and a car show are featured. Call 596-2582.

APPRECIATION DAYS: Members of area fire, rescue and law enforcement agencies and their children ages 10 and younger will be admitted free to Weeki Wachee Springs on Saturday and Sunday. Hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission includes the mermaid show, boat ride and the new "Dog, Cat & Pony Show." CHICKEN PLUCKIN' RETURNS: Spring Hill Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10209 will bring back its Chicken Pluckin' Festival from noon to 5 p.m. Nov. 10 at the post, 15166 Spring Hill Drive. The event includes contests such as an egg roll, Miss Drumstick and crowing, but there will be no plucking of chickens, as was the tradition in the past. PRIDE ON PARADE: There will be a Veterans Day parade at 10 a.m. Nov. 11 through downtown Brooksville. The event is co-sponsored by the city of Brooksville. Lineup is at 9:30 at the post office on Fort Dade Avenue in downtown Brooksville. Call 544-0680.

CURTAIN CALLS

Stage West Community Playhouse will have auditions for Annie Jr. Nov. 10 and 11 at the theater, 8390 Forest Oaks Blvd., Spring Hill. Open auditions are at 12:30 p.m. Nov. 10; callbacks are at 6 p.m. Nov. 11. It is directed by Pam Surbaugh, and production dates are the last two weekends in April. Roles are available for boys and girls from 7 to 16. Singers should prepare the song Tomorrow and will read from the script. Call 683-5113.

Submissions will be accepted through Dec. 1 for the annual Best New Florida Song contest, sponsored by the Will McLean Foundation.
