The Tampa Tempest, the area's most notable bunch of female players, hopes to rebound from its rough debut when hosting the Miami Fury in the 7 p.m. game.

Tampa took a pounding against Minnesota in St. Paul two weeks ago, losing 63-0 to start its inaugural season 0-1. Problems began on the team's first possession when the Tempest failed to convert on fourth down deep in their own territory. The team subsequently faltered.

The team, led by speedy wide receiver/kick returner Roblyn Carr, managed to recover three fumbles.

Miami has struggled, too, starting its season 0-2. Linebacker Sharion Spears heads the defense.

Tickets are $15 for general admission; $20 for VIP seats.

The Women's Professional Football League features 15 teams and opened its season Oct. 14. A 10-game schedule is to be followed by playoffs and a championship game Feb. 3. For information, call (813) 806-0951.
