Republicans hold rally to get out the voteBy Times staff writer © St. Petersburg Times, published November 4, 2000 INVERNESS -- Lt. Gov. Frank Brogan made a brief stop at Courthouse Square on Friday to encourage people to vote Tuesday and to encourage their friends to do the same. About 150 people attended the brief Republican rally, which also featured short, inspirational speeches from School Superintendent Pete Kelly and state Sen. Anna Cowin, both of whom are seeking second terms; and words from political hopefuls Pete Enwall (5th Congressional District), Millie King (County Commission, District 5) and Janice Warren (tax collector). Brogan said he promised George W. Bush's mother, Barbara, that her son would win Florida. "Do not let me down," he begged the audience. "We're going to restore character and dignity to the White House." © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • St. Petersburg Times
