Jane Alexander, actor and arts advocate, will speak about her experience as chairwoman of the National Endowment for the Arts in From Broadway to Hollywood to Washington, 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Raymond James Room, Fox Hall. Call 864-8873 for information.

Dennis Lehane, novelist and Eckerd College alumnus, will discuss his years at Eckerd College in From Eckerd to Eastwood, 8 p.m. Wednesday in Dendy-McNair Auditorium. Lehane has written six novels. His most recent, Mystic River, is to be made into a film produced and directed by Clint Eastwood. Call 864-8875 for information.

Betty Jean Steinshouer, a scholar and Chautauqua performer, will portray Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings in a dramatic presentation of Rawlings' life at 7 p.m. Monday in Davis Hall, Room 130. Rawlings is the author of The Yearling and Cross Creek. Call 553-1842 or 553-3800 for information.

USF will celebrate American Indian culture with two events on Wednesday in Davis Hall, Room 130. At 4 p.m., On and Off, a documentary film about standup comedy, will be shown. Filmmaker Sandra Osawa will be on hand at a reception after the film. At 7 p.m., Iris HeavyRunner will speak on American Indians and higher education. She is the project director of the Family Education Model. Call 553-1556 for information.

USF's Bayboro Books will host a Magic Tree House Party to commemorate the newest book in Mary Pope Osborne's Magic Tree House series, 7 p.m. Friday. Kids can play trivia games, paint and win cards and other prizes. The bookstore will give a $3 store credit to kids dressed in the theme of a Magic Tree House book. Call 821-5477 for information.
