UF sideliners

Remember these Titans?

Three former Gators playing for the NFL's Tennessee Titans were on the UF sideline: defensive end Jevon Kearse, offensive lineman Zach Piller and tight end Erron Kinney.

No regrets

Vandy quarterback Tim Olmstead, who transferred from Florida after the 1998 season, played one series against the Gators. He threw two incompletions and took a 10-yard loss after having to fight for a bad snap, then slipping.

Sleight of hand

Concerned about Olmstead's knowledge of their offensive play signals, the Gators had backup quarterbacks Kevin McKinnon and Jesse Palmer give simultaneous signals -- one real, one phony -- from the sideline.

Wrong way

UF was penalized five times for 45 yards in one possession. From first-and-10 at the Vandy 22, the Gators were flagged for two false starts, two holds and a personal foul. They punted on fourth-and-25 at the 37.

No-name defense

Two Vandy defenders, linebacker Jamie Winborn and cornerback Jimmy Williams, changed numbers after tearing their jerseys.

Quotable

"What's up, Tim? How are you doing?" -- UF defensive tackle Gerard Warren, on how he greeted Olmstead after hitting him in the backfield
