ST. PETERSBURG -- Police are searching for two gunmen who broke into a home, shot a woman to death and injured a man late Saturday.

Killed in the incident, which took place in the Campbell Park area, was Shkira L. Neal, 18, who lived at 784 18th Ave. S. Neal died of gunshot wounds to the upper body, police said.

A second victim, Willie Joe Baker, 31, also of St. Petersburg, was shot several times in the face and chest. Police say he underwent surgery at Bayfront Medical Center and was listed in critical condition early Sunday, though Bayfront officials would not confirm he was treated there.

According to police reports, Baker and Neal were inside Baker's home at 10001/2 11th Ave. S when two men broke into the house and shot them. The gunmen ran away and were last seen heading south and west from Baker's home. Wounded, Baker ran for help to a neighbor's house at 1011 James Ave. When police arrived at 11:12 p.m., they found Baker on the porch.

The shooting is under investigation, St. Petersburg police said Sunday. Anyone with information about the shooting should call Detective Cindy Leedy at 893-7613 or 893-7575.
