Cloisonne shines at Art HarvestBy MARY ANN MARGER
© St. Petersburg Times, DUNEDIN -- Cloisonne artists Gael and Howard Silverblatt won the Peoples Bank Patron of the Arts award of $2,000 at Art Harvest, an annual outdoor juried show held this weekend at Highlander Park adjacent to the Dunedin Fine Art Center. The Silverblatts, a husband-wife team who live in Lake Worth, create tiny, intricate scenes in cloisonne jewelry. Their many top awards include three best-of-shows at Mainsail Arts Festival in St. Petersburg. Receiving awards of distinction ($1,700 each) were Nancy Cervenka-McLaughlin, sculpture; Don Reagan, wood; Rocky Bridges, mixed media; and Bill Herb, ceramics. Awards of merit ($700 each) went to James Skvarch, graphics; Carolyn Cohen, watercolors; Laurie Coppedge, photography; Jack Ellis, graphics; Peggy Wattenbarger, fiber; Frederick Warren, glass; Tim and Erika Peters, ceramics; Susanna Spann, watercolors; Madelyn Ricks, jewelry; and Celeste Simon, mixed media. Honorable mention ($300 each) went to Charles Parkhill, sculpture; Vic Lehner, wood; Denis Gaston, graphics; Scott Meynig, fiber; Robyn Hillary, metal; Michael Bryant, photography; Bettye Reagan, graphics; Jim and Shirl Parmentier, ceramics; Carol Lee Gardenour, fiber; Michael D'Andrea, mixed media; Susan Vey, ceramics; Patricia Karnes, jewelry; Jack Forney and Marian Vorgang-Forney, oil and acrylic; Bea Lilly Hatala, glass; and Jan Wunsch, jewelry.
