RV center in Seffner to add 300-space park
© St. Petersburg Times, published November 7, 2000 SEFFNER -- Lazydays RV SuperCenter is targeting the RV rally market with the newest addition to its 150-acre complex off Interstate 4. A 300-space park designed to host club events officially opens Wednesday with a visit from race car drivers Richard Petty and John Andretti. Part of a $16-million expansion, the park includes a 12,000-square-foot clubhouse with banquet facilities for 600. In addition to hosting clubs, the park will be the site of Lazydays-sponsored events such as the drivers' appearance, which is part of a $99 three-night package for campers. Lazydays recently signed a five-year marketing agreement with Petty's company. The park also is open for individual stays at $25 a night, including breakfast and lunch. Lazydays, which already claims the title of the world's No. 1 dealer in recreational vehicles, has built the center into a destination for RV owners. There's a Cracker Barrel restaurant, a Camping World store and a Flying J RV Travel Plaza offering a variety of services. "What we strive for is that anybody who comes will go out and say, "That was an incredible experience,' and tell six to eight of their friends," chief marketing officer Stewart Schaffer said. "If they've gotten used to coming here year after year, when they do decide to buy a new RV, the vast majority are going to come here to try to put a deal together." The park replaces a tree-shaded 164-space campground, which has been turned into a display area for Lazydays' largest and fanciest motor homes, some of which carry price tags of more than $1-million. © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • Tampa Bay Times
