Decorative art workshop for adults

Center Place Fine Arts & Civic Association, 619 Vonderburg Drive, is offering a decorative painting workshop for adults from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 16. Bonnie Phillips will teach the "paint it-take it" workshop using the techniques of brush strokes and composition. The project will be a hanging fern involving the use of water-friendly oils on canvas. No experience is required. Cost is $15 for members, $20 for non-members. Club's reservation deadline today

The North East Tampa Chapter of Business and Professional Women's Club will host its monthly luncheon meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The deadline for reservations is today. The meeting will be held at the Pebble Creek Golf Club, 10550 Regents Park Drive, off Bruce B Downs Boulevard. Arleen Doran, financial adviser at Advest Inc., will present a seminar titled "Smart Women Finish Rich." The seminar will provide seven steps to help achieve financial security and fund those dreams. Association hosts membership meeting

The Hillsborough County Hotel and Motel Association will host its annual general membership meeting beginning at noon Thursday. The meeting will be held at the Hyatt Regency Westshore, 6200 Courtney Campbell Causeway and will include lunch. Cost is $20. Jim Cloar, president of Tampa Downtown Partnership, will be the speaker. Sheriff to speak to Lions Club

The Ybor City Lions Club will host a luncheon meeting at Columbia Restaurant, 2117 E Seventh Ave. in Ybor City. The noon meeting on Thursday will feature Sheriff Cal Henderson as the guest speaker. Cost for luncheon is $10. For information, call Victor at (813) 251-2371.

Arthritis support group to meet

The Rheumatoid Arthritis Support Group will hold its monthly meeting at Catholic Charities, 2021 E Busch Blvd., from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday. A presentation will be given on managing stress during the holidays. Free meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month to provide support to persons with rheumatoid arthritis and their families. For information, call (813) 631-4370.

Women's auxiliary meets Friday

The Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary will hold its monthly meeting from 10:30 a.m. to noon Friday at The Salvation Army Worship Center, 1100 W Sligh Ave. The auxiliary supports the work of the Salvation Army and provides volunteers for programs and events to assist those less fortunate in the community. Veterans Day ceremony set

The Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 10140 of Tampa, will conduct a flag-raising ceremony at 11 a.m. Veterans Day in front of the clubhouse at Nantucket Bay Apartments, 11800 Sophia Drive. The ceremony, sponsored by the residents, will honor the memory and pay tribute to the men and women who served in our armed forces. The flag to be dedicated has been flown over the United States Capitol. Local dignitaries have been invited to attend.
