ST. PETERSBURG -- A rental property owned by the mayor's chief of staff was the target of a drug bust that netted an arrest and 30 pieces of crack cocaine Monday.
Don McRae, Mayor David Fischer's right-hand man, does not live at the duplex at 767 22nd Ave. S.
McRae said he rents the apartment to the son of a man who does maintenance work for him.
McRae said he does not know the 16-year-old St. Petersburg boy who was arrested at the duplex and charged with one count each of sale and possession of crack cocaine. McRae said Tuesday he thinks attention was drawn to his property because he told police of neighbors' complaints about drug dealing. Police recovered $600 worth of crack cocaine from the property.
