ST. PETERSBURG -- The orange got crushed in the first "Time Warner Bowl Game" on Thursday night as the St. Petersburg Catholic defense contained Osceola's bread-and-butter running game.

St. Petersburg erupted from a dormant first half to score 23 points in the second half to win 23-6 and take this year's title.

"This was our test," St. Petersburg assistant coach Willie Davis said as his team mugged for the cameras. "This game against Osceola was our championship and I think it shows that we've come a long way."

St. Petersburg (8-1) put its offense in the hands of talented quarterback Chris Davis, who amassed 114 yards on the ground and completed all six of his passes in the second half, including two for touchdowns.

Osceola's backfield of Jason Teague and Chris Gerber were kept out of the end zone until after the two-minute warning when Teague broke free for a 41-yard touchdown and Osceola's only score.
