Schools' future to be discussedBy Times staff writer © St. Petersburg Times, published November 12, 2000 CROSS CREEK -- What will New Tampa schools look like in five, 10 years? How will unitary status -- a legal term that says Hillsborough schools no longer need court-supervised desegregation -- affect New Tampa schools? How will the schools' boundaries change in the future? How can schools earn and keep that coveted "A" grade? Those are some of the questions Hillsborough school administrators will answer this week at the New Tampa Community Council's education meeting. Parents are encouraged to attend the meeting that will feature Donnie Evans, assistant superintendent for instruction; Bill Persons, director of pupil administrative services; and Sam Whitten, supervisor of assessment. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday in the media center at Benito Middle School, 10101 Cross Creek Blvd. For information, call Carol Henderson at 971-1454 or Lois Haas at 907-8188. © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • St. Petersburg Times
