Mr. 300

Florida State senior quarterback Chris Weinke threw for 324 yards, becoming the Atlantic Coast Conference's all-time leader with 12 300-yard games. Maryland's Scott Milanovich, a former Buc, held the record.

First start

FSU redshirt freshman cornerback Stanford Samuels made his first collegiate start. Senior Clevan Thomas had started every game this season.

Streaking Seminoles

FSU has won 10 games for a NCAA-record 14th consecutive season. The Seminoles hope to extend their NCAA streak of Top 4 finishes to 14 years, too.

Band aid

In an annual Wake Forest tradition, about 500 band members from eight Winston-Salem area high schools and approximately 250 cheerleaders from 20 programs performed at halftime.

Brotherly love

FSU star defensive end Jamal Reynolds got to go against his older brother, Diron, who is in his second season as a full-time Wake Forest assistant and in his fourth overall with the Demon Deacons.

Quotable

"I'm glad to get out of here alive. All of our tailbacks got hurt. We ended up putting Nick Maddox in at tailback. (But) if we have any advantage over an ACC team, it's depth." -- FSU coach Bobby Bowden
