Roof continues to leak after repairs

By NANCY PARADIS

I had Jon Myers Roofing come repair a leak in my roof and replace some shingles. Unfortunately, only the shingle replacement was adequate. The leaking has not been corrected. I have called the cell phone and the business phone numerous times and could only leave messages. Not one call was answered. Thank you for any assistance you can give me. H. King

Response: Charles Foringer, an estimator and service technician with Jon Myers Roofing in Oldsmar, said that he completed repairs as contracted on Sept. 27. You called and complained about still having a leak, so he returned and met with you at your home on Oct. 17. After you told him you had large puddles on your pool deck when it rained, he meticulously went over the areas and touched up anything that could possibly have had anything to do with a leak. He has not heard from you since that visit to your home, he said.

If your roof is still leaking, Foringer said he cannot imagine why, nor does he think it has even rained at your home during the past month. However, if you call him, he would be happy to meet with you at your home. He said you have both the office and his cell phone numbers.

Resolving printer trouble

I have a Canon bubble jet printer that malfunctions. I have been unable to resolve the problem by phone or mail. The company does not respond to my letters, and when I call the phone number I have and key in the serial number on my contract, the machine says it's not good, bye-bye. I feel like smashing the thing. If Canon would give me back the money I paid for the two-year warranty, I would junk the printer and buy a better one. Walter Mauger

Response: Africa Costa at Canon's customer care center in Chesapeake, Va., said in a letter to Action that Canon was pleased to inform us that your complaint has been resolved to your satisfaction.

Not so fast, was your response when we checked with you, although things are looking up.

What you received from Canon were detailed instructions on wending your way through its voicemail maze, the name and address of a Canon technician in Tampa and, finally, the offer to exchange your printer through its instant exchange program if all else fails. Good luck, and do let us know how things turn out.
