Fishing but not catching? Workshop could help

A three-hour workshop focusing on salt water fishing will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Dec. 5 at the Homosassa Lion Club on Homosassa Trail. Capt. Mike Locklear will discuss fishing regulations; geography of rivers and waterways in relation to where the fish are; fish identification and size limits; techniques on how to catch all types of fish; and proper handling and releasing tactics.

Locklear has more than 20 years experience in local fishing and is licensed by the U.S. Coast Guard. Workshop is sponsored by the Citrus County Parks and Recreation Dept. Cost is $25 and class is limited to 50 attendees. Call 795-2202.

Natural history walk planned at Chinsegut

Springs discussion to include walking tour, hands-on activities

A discussion about area springs will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 17 at Rainbow Springs State Park, U.S. 41 N, Dunnellon. The format includes lectures, hands-on activities and a walking tour. Call (352) 489-7516.

Audubon Society visiting Wekiwa Springs State Park

The Citrus County Audubon Society will take a field trip to Wekiwa Springs State Park on Nov. 18. Society members are to meet at the pavilion in the parking lot at 8:30 a.m. The park is on Wekiwa Springs Road, off State Road 436 or State Road 434 near Apopka. Entry fee is $3.25.

Holiday light display set at Wildlife Park

The Homosassa Springs State Wildlife Park will have a holiday light display inside the park from Dec. 19 through Dec. 26.

New kayak, canoe outfitter offers tours at Homosassa resort
