Gallery to present "Just a Moment'

Centre Gallery presents "Just a Moment," an exhibition of photographs, by Bethany Souza from Monday through Dec. 8. A reception will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Dec. 1. Newcomers to host luncheon meeting

Tampa Bay Newcomers will hold its monthly luncheon and meeting at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 28. There will be a silent auction of gift baskets; proceeds will be donated to charity. The reservation deadline is Nov. 22. Tampa Bay Newcomers is a non-profit social organization that helps women new to the area (within the past 18 months) meet others and explore mutual interests through group activities. Smoking cessation program at TGH

Tampa General Hospital is sponsoring a smoking cessation program from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday on Davis Islands, 2 Columbia Drive. The first part is a free orientation. Participants can pay $50 if they would like to continue with the program. The two-hour session combines hypnosis and behavior modification. Luminaria kits for sale

The Brandon Branch of the American Association of University Women is selling luminaria kits (paper bag lanterns) for $5. The deadline to place orders is Wednesday. Luminarias are a Mexican tradition, lighted on Christmas Eve at dusk to await the coming of the Christ Child. Proceeds benefit the Brandon branch's ""Girls Can!'' project, which funds scholarships for women. Distribution and pickup will be Sunday.
