    15 finalists on list of top Pinellas educators

    The Pinellas County School Board has named 15 finalists in the 2001-02 Outstanding Educators Recognition program. Pared from a list of 25 semifinalists, the teachers were nominated in five categories.

    Finalists in the Commitment to Improvement of the Profession category are Margaret Bryant, Northwest Elementary; Lela-Anne Carroll, Meadowlawn Middle; and Carolyn Schafer, Sexton Elementary.

    Creativity and Innovation finalists are Jane Charland, Ozona Elementary; Michelle Crosby, Perkins Elementary; and Shannon Livingston, Skycrest Elementary.

    Inspiring Students to Performance at Higher Levels finalists are Debbie Love, Seminole Middle; Phyllis Selkow, Ozona Elementary; and Jean Wark, Perkins Elementary.

    Finalists in the Commitment to Children and Families category are Gail Lulek, Safety Harbor Middle; Peggy Ross, Rio Vista Elementary; and Nancy Sigmon, Palm Harbor Community School.

    Ambassador of the Profession finalists are James Pribble, Melrose Elementary; Ann Spear, Safety Harbor Middle; and Carolyn Underwood, Largo Middle.

    The outstanding educators will be recognized Jan. 31 at a dinner hosted by the Pinellas County Education Foundation, where one of them will be selected to represent Pinellas County in the state Teacher of the Year program.
