Indian Rocks Beach
Beach Art Center will hold its 23rd annual Fall Festival Saturday in Kolb Park, next to City Hall, two blocks east of Gulf Boulevard between 16th and 17th avenues.
The festival will include 80 artists and craftspeople, Chalk Walk 2001, based on the tradition of Italian street painting, and an antique car show.
Antique automobile owners are invited to show their cars. Registration fee is $5, and car owners can arrive before 8:30 a.m.
Food will be provided by Crabby Bill's Seafood Restaurant, Panjano's Pizza and Indian Rocks Beach Civic Center. Soft drinks and beer will be available.
Indian Rocks Beach Rotary Club will serve its semi-annual pancake breakfast in the Beach Art Center at 7:30 a.m. Tickets are $3.50.

Beach Art Center is sponsoring Chalk Walk 2001, an event patterned after traditional Italian street painting that dates to the 16th century.
The Chalk Walk will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday on Bay Palm Boulevard. The event will include regional, local and student artists, but individuals and families with no art training also are welcome to participate.
Artists' pastels will be used to create the street art. To obtain an artist's application to participate, call Beach Art Center at 596-4331. There is no charge to artists participating in the event.
Beach Art Center is at 1515 Bay Palm Blvd., next to Indian Rocks Beach City Hall.
The city's Public Arts Advisory Committee is seeking proposals from artists for a permanent public art display at the Catherine A. Hickman Theater of Gulfport, 5501 27th Ave. S.
The theme is the "Spirit of Arts in Gulfport." The committee is seeking proposals for the placement of a design for the corner area east of the main entrance to the theater.
Suggested media include ceramic and mosaic tiles appropriate for a seating area. Other materials are welcome. The media must be able to withstand the elements, including but not limited to rain and the heat of the summer sun.
The exterior area is not supervised or enclosed, so durability is essential.
The artist must describe how the public art will be affixed or placed in this area and what enhancements or furnishings the artist may wish to have in proximity to the artwork.
The budget for the public art display is $4,250. The budget shall provide for a completed piece of art, including all materials, labor and installation.
Each artist must provide six sets of their proposal.
The submission should consist of a one-page typewritten description of the proposed sculptures and a drawing or series of up to four drawings (no larger than 8 by 11 inches).
The written description must specify the proposed size and media.
Proposals are due no later than 4:30 p.m. Dec. 3. Proposals can be mailed or dropped off in care of Paula Cohen, city of Gulfport, 2401 53rd St., Gulfport, FL 33707.

The Treasure Islettes will hold their annual bazaar, luncheon and car party from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Treasure Island Community Center, 1 Park Place in Treasure Island.

The Gulf Beaches Rotary Club and the city of Treasure Island are sponsoring the third annual Rotary Tennis Challenge from 9 to noon Saturday at the Treasure Island Golf, Tennis and Recreation Center, 10315 Paradise Blvd.
The event will accommodate 48 tennis players of various playing levels who will participate in a round robin tournament.
The proceeds will benefit the Treasure Island Recreation Department children's programs, the Treasure Island tennis juniors programs and the Gulf Beaches Rotary Foundation. The money goes to scholarships for Treasure Island summer camps and tennis programs and grants to Madeira Beach and Gulf Beaches elementary schools.
Cost is $30 per player, which includes a tennis racquet. The event includes a silent auction.
