KEY DATES: Dec. 1 -- Wharton at King; Dec. 5 -- Durant at Gaither; Dec. 8 -- Gaither at Bloomingdale; Dec. 12 -- Bloomingdale at Durant; Dec. 20-22 -- Puma Invitational; Jan. 3-5 -- King Tournament; Jan. 17 -- Berkeley Prep at Tampa Catholic; Jan. 23 -- Berkeley Prep at Jesuit; Jan. 25-26 -- Western Conference; Jan. 30-Feb. 2 -- Districts; Feb. 22-24 -- State tournament.

TEAMS TO WATCH: Gaither (defending Class 6A state champion); Jesuit (state finalist); Tampa Catholic (state finalist); Bloomingdale (loaded as usual).

PLAYOFFS: The district tournament champion and runner-up advance to the regional playoffs. There are three rounds of regional playoffs. The state tournament is at the University of Tampa's Pepin Rood Stadium.

CLASSIFICATIONS: Schools are divided by enrollment into four classifications from the largest (4A) to the smallest (A).
