TAMPA -- The Hillsborough County Commission voted Wednesday to accelerate the building of branch libraries in the south Citrus Park area and in south Brandon, meaning they may open by 2004 instead of 2006.

In July, the commission earmarked $5 million to build them. The new plan, which the commission approved 5-1, depends on someone donating land for the branches, said Joe Stines, the county's director of libraries.
