Call (813) 685-8888. TampaCigar Heritage Festival is Saturday The fourth annual Cigar Heritage Festival will be held in Centennial Park in Ybor City. Festivities will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and will feature live entertainment. Highlights of the free event, produced by Clear Channel Broadcasting of Tampa Bay, will include product displays and samples from cigar manufacturers, retailers and exhibitors, ethnic food, entertainment, and family activities. Nationally syndicated Cigar Dave will broadcast his radio show, Smoke This, from noon to 2 p.m. and will kick off the National Lightation Ceremony. Atlanta Rhythm Section will be featured at 2:30 p.m. There also will be a Harley-Davidson motorcycle display, a bocci ball tournament and a children's activity area. Hispanic Chamber sponsors job fair The Tampa Bay Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will present Job Fair 2000 free from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at the Ramada Airport Hotel and Conference Center, 5303 W Kennedy Blvd. Representatives will be on hand from banking, telecommunications, finance, health, government, military, investments, education, insurance and other career fields. Admission is free. The event is open to the public. A luncheon will begin at noon, with John Ramil, president of TECO Energy, as the keynote speaker. Cost is $15 for members, $20 for non-members. There will also be a networking reception from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Cost is $10. For information or reservations, call (813) 414-9411. Pledges sought for AIDSWalk 2000 Individual walkers and teams of walkers are needed to collect pledges for the AIDSWalk Tampa Bay 2000 scheduled for 9 a.m. Dec. 2 at Al Lopez Park on Himes Avenue. The family-friendly, 2-mile walk is designed to raise awareness and funds for HIV/AIDS. The event will feature live entertainment, children's activities and educational material. Refreshments will be available. Participants are encouraged to register and turn in pledges by Friday. Registration also will be held at 8 a.m. the day of the event. Training session set for Voyager series A training session for the Voyager series will be offered from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday in the auditorium at the John F. Germany Public Library, 900 N Ashley Drive. The Voyager series, published by New Readers Press, is the publishing arm of Laubach Literacy used by tutors for students with some literacy skills. Antique appraisal set for Saturday An antique appraisal will be held starting at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Plant Hall lobby at the University of Tampa, 401 W Kennedy Blvd. Doors open at 10 a.m. The event is sponsored by the Henry B. Plant Museum and local antique appraisers. The appraisal cost is $5 per item. Limit of 3 items. Tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis; available between 10 a.m. and noon. If furniture is too large, bring a good photograph. Items to be appraised can include collectibles, American paintings, furniture, maps, silver, documents, paintings, prints, estate jewelry and 19th century European antiques. West ShoreCancer education series offered The fall education series sponsored by the Florida Cancer Education Network will be held at the Centre Club, One Urban Centre, 123 S Westshore Blvd. The first session will be 7:15 to 8:45 a.m. Friday. Dr. Alison Calkins will present a program on "New Techniques for Treating Prostate Cancer." Dr. Timothy Yeatman will present a program on "Understanding Colon/Rectum Cancer" from 7:15 to 8:45 a.m. Dec. 15. Breakfast will be served. The series is free and open to the public to raise awareness of early detection screenings, treatment and support services. Reservations are requested; seating is limited.
