Look ahead

TURKEY IN THE GRASS: There will be a Thanksgiving Bluegrass Festival from Nov. 22-25 at the Sertoma Youth Ranch in southeast Hernando County. Event hours are from 5 to 11 p.m. Thursday, noon to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. The festival features the Bass Mountain Boys, the Flint River Boys, Melvin Goins and Windy Mountain, the Stevens Sisters, the Bluegrass Parlor Band, Larry Stephenson, the James King Band and Lost and Found. Food and camping hookups are available. Admission is $30 for the weekend, or $8 for Thursday, $14 Friday and Saturday and $10 Sunday. Ages 12-16 get in for $2. Ages 11 and younger are free. A special covered-dish Thanksgiving Dinner will be shared on Thursday, with the ranch providing the turkey. No pets or smoking is allowed in the concert area. Call 754-3082.

SYMPHONY FOR THE SEASON: The Hernando Symphony Orchestra will present its holiday concerts Nov. 25, 27 and Dec. 1. Preston will play a white, mirrored grand piano wearing duplicates of the late pianist-singer's most lavish costumes, including one with 150 electric lights on the cape. MODEL EXHIBIT: Model airplane enthusiasts Paul Flow and Jeremy Waters are exhibiting a range of non-flying and radio-controlled model airplanes with wingspans from 3 to 80 inches through Dec. 12 at the Pottberg Library on the west campus of Pasco-Hernando Community College, 10230 Ridge Road, New Port Richey. The exhibit includes award-winning dioramas of World War II, Vietnam and other military scenes.
