These events at the county's two community centers are free and open to the public, unless otherwise noted. The Lecanto Multi-Purpose Center is at 1410 County Road 491. Call 746-1842. The East Citrus Community Center is at 9907 E Gulf to Lake Highway (State Road 44 E), Inverness. Call 344-9666.

East Citrus Community Center

Daily: 9 a.m., opens for various activities, including crafts and ceramics; 9:30 a.m., video chair exercises.

Monday: 10:30 a.m. Jimi Jon entertains; 12:30 p.m., Dixie Rose Band; 1 p.m., woodcarvers meet in the sun room; 1:30 p.m., beginning line dance with Lil Robinson and afternoon pool.

Tuesday: 10:30 a.m., Ginni Coe on organ; 12:30 p.m., St. Luke's Eye Institute free vision and pressure checks; 2 p.m., ballroom dance instruction with Mark Wilson: $2; no pool after 1:30.

Wednesday: 12:30 p.m., Bingo; 1:30 p.m., advanced line dancing with Lil Robinson.

Thursday: Closed for The Thanksgiving holiday.

Friday: Closed for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Lecanto Multi-Purpose Senior Center

Wednesday: 9:30 a.m., blood pressure check by A+

Home Health Care; 10 a.m., Life Line screening; 10:30 a.m., crafts with Florence and Rocco Disario on keyboard; 12:15 p.m., turkey bingo; 1:30 p.m., line dance class with Ben Zonak and plastercraft class with Mary.

Green Thumb Inc. in association with the Withlacoochee Technical Institute and Mid-Florida Community services is accepting registration from people 55 or older for a 13-week course as a patient care assistant, certified nurses aide and home health aide to be held five days a week, six hours per day beginning in January at W.T.I. A high school diploma is not required, but participants must be income eligible. The course includes tuition, books and uniforms. For eligibility or other information, call the Green Thumb office at 726-5477.
