Church members to receive St. Jude the Apostle medals Bishop Robert Lynch of the Roman Catholic Diocese of St. Petersburg will award the annual St. Jude the Apostle Medal to lay people throughout the diocese on Nov. 26, the feast of Christ the King. The 3 p.m. ceremony will take place at the Cathedral of St. Jude the Apostle, 5815 Fifth Ave. N, St. Petersburg. Those being honored have been nominated by their pastors for distinguished service. Wesleyan Church plans special holiday showsPinellas Park Wesleyan Church, 4400 70th Ave. N, will hold a Thanksgiving service at 10 a.m. Sunday, featuring Bryan Popin at the piano. The church also will present a Celebration of Lights, a musical Christmas light show featuring three 24-foot Christmas trees and more than 130,000 lights, beginning at 7 p.m. on Dec. 8, 9 and 23. The 10-minute presentation will run four times each night. The last show will be at 8:30 p.m. In addition, the church will present One Bethlehem Night, a musical production featuring The Living Christmas Trees, at 7 p.m. on Dec. 16, 17, 18, 20 and 22. Alumni Singers slated for Baptist church concertThe Alumni Singers of St. Petersburg will present a Christmas concert at 4 p.m. Dec. 3 at the American Baptist Church of the Beatitudes, 2812 Eighth St. N. A freewill offering will be taken. American Baptist Women's Ministries will hold its annual Christmas Tea after the concert. St. Andrew Lutheran Church to hold annual bazaarSt. Andrew Lutheran Church, 1901 62nd Ave. S, will hold its annual bazaar, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., today. There will be snacks, face painting, a kid's corner, home decorating items, tree trims, gifts and a large selection of white elephant items. The bazaar will benefit the Migrant Farm Workers Self-Help and Medical Center in Dade City. Miami vocal ensemble kicks off First Presbyterian's seriesThe first concert of First Presbyterian's Musical Arts Series will be at 7:30 p.m. today, at the church, 701 Beach Drive NE. Jubilate, a professional vocal ensemble from Miami, will perform. The group will focus on the voice and artistry of African-American music. Free. Chancellor of Jewish seminary to be honored at receptionTampa Bay Friends of The Jewish Theological Seminary will hold an inaugural patron's reception, 7:30 p.m. Dec. 17, in honor of Dr. Ismar Schorsch, chancellor of the Jewish Theological Seminary and leader of the Conservative Movement. Schorsch will be in the Tampa Bay area for the dedication of Congregation B'nai Israel of St. Petersburg's new synagogue at 300 58th St. N. A leading Jewish spokesperson on the environment and the moral dimensions of health care, Schorsch will meet with supporters of the Jewish Theological Seminary to discuss issues facing the Conservative Movement in the United States, Israel and other parts the world. Attending the reception, which will be held in a Clearwater home, will be Rabbi Jacob Luski, Rabbi Joel Wasser, Rabbi Marc Sack, Rabbi Gabriel Ben-Or and Rabbi Joel Mishkin.
