Travel auction aids Red CrossBy Times staff
© St. Petersburg Times, To aid the American Red Cross effort for victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, the Society of American Travel Writers has created an online auction of trips, books, photographs and travel planning services. For this Freedom of Travel auction, eBay is waiving all listing fees, so that 100 percent of what winning bidders pay will be sent to the Red Cross. In cooperation with eBay's Auction for America, travel companies, tourism bureaus, travel writers and photographers are donating items such as: A golf cruise off the Scottish coast with playing stops at courses such as St. Andrews. An eight-day, all-inclusive Pacific Delight tour of Hong Kong, including round-trip transportation from 34 U.S. cities. Two nights for two at the Chateau Elan Winery & Resort in Georgia, with breakfasts, Swedish massage and two rounds of golf. Five-night vacation on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, including a whale-watching cruise. Other hotels and resorts offering vacation packages include the Sonesta Hotel in New Orleans' French Quarter, Westin St. Francis in San Francisco and Williamsburg Inn in Colonial Williamsburg. To view auction items, go to pages.ebay.com, then click on Auction for America. © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • St. Petersburg Times
