CLEARWATER -- A Clearwater man remained in the Pinellas County Jail on Saturday, two days after being charged with beating a friend's 3-year-old daughter.

Eric Murrey, 35, had taken the girl out for pizza Wednesday, according to the Sheriff's Office. When Murrey returned home with the child, the girl's mother noticed bruises on the girl's head and hip and two patches of hair missing. The mother took the child to a local hospital, where officials called the Sheriff's Office.

Murrey was charged with aggravated child abuse. His bail was set at $50,000.
