Silly superstition?

Freshman quarterback Rex Grossman, 5-0 as a starter, took the first snap for the Gators, but was replaced by senior Jesse Palmer for the second play. Palmer stayed in the game.

Sounds of harmony

Florida and Florida State don't agree on much, but the marching bands set aside their differences for a joint rendition of the national anthem. No fights broke out.

Crystal ball

The Sears National Championship Trophy was on display Saturday at Doak Campbell Stadium. The Seminoles were 3-0 in the trophy's three previous visits.

A new look

With a nip in the air and rain in the forecast, UF coach Steve Spurrier opted for a ball cap rather than his trademark visor.

Politically speaking

Gov. Jeb Bush, Lt. Gov Frank Brogan, Secretary of State Katherine Harris, Speaker of the House John Thrasher, Commissioner of Education Tom Gallagher, Commissioner of Agriculture Bob Crawford and about 60 legislators were in attendance.
