To creative souls: Write a novel for us

With Thanksgiving arriving this week, can Christmas be far behind?

And if the holiday season is upon us, it must be time once again for the Citrus Times' annual Reader-Written Novel.

If you have a flair for fiction, this is your chance to participate in a unique team-writing experience.

A team of authors will be chosen from among those who submit story ideas to the Times. The team will meet and determine the kind of story they will create. Then, each person will write a chapter and hand off the evolving story to the next writer until eight chapters are complete. No one, including the authors, will know how the story ends until the final chapter is finished.

The Times has been offering this writing opportunity each year since 1992. Teachers and students, retirees and working people, even husband-wife and mother-daughter teams have joined to produce exciting tales set in Citrus County.

The eight-part series will begin on Christmas Day and will run all week, concluding on New Year's Day.

Anyone interested in being part of this year's team should submit a brief story idea to the Times by Friday. You can mail or hand-deliver your idea to one of our two Citrus County offices: 301 W Main St., Inverness, FL 34450, or 498 NE Kings Bay Drive, Crystal River, FL 34429; e-mail to Hamilton@sptimes.com; or fax to 860-7320. Call 860-7301 for information.
