Police: Be wary of phone solicitations

TARPON SPRINGS -- Police are warning residents not to give money to phone solicitors who say they're from the Cops & Kids charity. The program, which the Tarpon Springs Police Department runs, does not solicit over the phone. Several people have called the Police Department to complain about the solicitations, Chief Mark LeCouris said Tuesday. Anyone who has information about the solicitors or who has written a check to them is asked to call the police at (727) 938-2849.
