Military newsBy DONNA WINCHESTER © St. Petersburg Times, published November 22, 2000 The Fleet Reserve Association has elected Dale Baldwin of St. Petersburg its regional president for 2000-2001. Baldwin will oversee the activities of FRA branches in Tennessee, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama and Florida. The federally chartered FRA is the oldest and largest military association representing the concerns of enlisted sea service personnel. It works to safeguard military pay and benefits by representing its members before Congress and federal agencies. Baldwin is a 1956 graduate of St. Petersburg High School. U.S. Marine Corps Pvt. Bradley James Voigt, son of Brad and Diane Voigt of St. Petersburg, has completed basic training at Parris Island, S.C. He will report to Camp Geiger, N.C., for 17 days of combat training and then to Fort Sill, Okla., for seven weeks of artillery training. Voigt is a 2000 graduate of St. Petersburg High School. U.S. Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Brice M. Brethauer, son of Rodney K. Brethauer of St. Petersburg and Melody J. Ritchie of Largo, returned from a six-month deployment to the Mediterranean Sea and Arabian Gulf while assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower. The ship's home port is Norfolk, Va. Brethauer is a 1996 graduate of Gibbs High School. He joined the Navy in January 1997. U.S. Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Eugene Von Lindern of St. Petersburg has been included in the Navy Log at the U.S. Navy Memorial, Washington, D.C. Von Lindern served the Navy between September 1956 and August 1958 aboard the USS Norris.
