Cheap thrill

La Palma

Clearwater's taste for Latin American food goes beyond Mexican. You can get a filling sample of the cooking of El Salvador at La Palma, a friendly little center of the Salvadoran community (and Mutiny fandom). There are familiar tacos and Reuben sandwiches, but specialties are tamales and pupusas, (something like a stuffed tortilla, best eaten with pickled curtido, the peppery pickle of Central America). Kitchen makes much more, from dinners of pork carnitas or grilled shrimp to its own mayonnaise and great mango shakes. (727) 461-5904.
